Iran’s Intelligence Ministry has alleged that the United States and Israel are still determined to topple the Islamic Republic and destabilise the country despite failing to achieve their objectives through military action.
In a statement released on Wednesday and circulated by Iranian media outlets, the ministry claimed that both countries had shifted tactics after what it described as an unsuccessful military campaign during the recent conflict in the Middle East.
According to the statement, Washington and Tel Aviv are now allegedly focusing on alternative strategies aimed at weakening Iran internally, including increasing economic pressure, fuelling ethnic and religious divisions, and sponsoring acts of sabotage and terrorism.
The ministry further claimed it had obtained intelligence indicating plans to smuggle weapons, ammunition, and illegal communication equipment into Iran, particularly Starlink satellite internet devices.
The comments come as Tehran and Washington continue discussions toward a possible agreement intended to halt the conflict that erupted on February 28 and later spread across the region.
Iran and Israel have for years been engaged in a prolonged shadow conflict involving cyberattacks, sabotage operations, and assassinations linked to Iran’s nuclear programme. However, tensions escalated dramatically during last year’s 12-day confrontation, regarded as the first direct and sustained war between the two rivals following earlier retaliatory attacks in 2024.
Iran has consistently refused to recognise Israel and has not maintained diplomatic ties with the United States since 1980.
