The Plateau State Police Command has arrested two alleged members of the Sara-Suka cult group in separate operations in Jos, recovering weapons and suspected illicit drugs.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Alfred Alabo, confirmed the arrests in a statement on Wednesday, noting that the operations were carried out under the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Bassey Ewah, as part of intensified efforts to combat crime and drug abuse across the state.
According to the statement, officers from the Anti-Cyber Crime and Narcotics Unit apprehended 18-year-old Adam Abdullahi in the Gengere area of Rikkos, Jos. He was reportedly found with a double-edged knife, cult-related items, and substances suspected to be crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as “ice.”
In a separate incident, operatives of the Angwan Rogo Division arrested 20-year-old Khalifa Yusuf at the 011 Prayer Ground opposite the University of Jos Permanent Site. Items recovered from him included a knife and dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.
Both suspects are currently in custody and undergoing investigation, with the police stating that they will be charged to court upon completion of the probe.
The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to maintaining security in the state, urging residents to remain vigilant and support law enforcement with timely and useful information.
For emergency reporting, the Command also released control room numbers and encouraged the public to report any unprofessional conduct by officers through designated channels.
