Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of securing the services of Andy Robertson following the defender’s departure from Liverpool FC.
The 32-year-old Scottish left-back featured in his final match for the Reds against Brentford on Sunday, having already confirmed he will leave Anfield when his contract expires this summer.
According to BBC Sport on Wednesday, negotiations between both clubs and the player’s representatives are in the final stages, with an agreement in principle already in place ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.
Spurs previously attempted to sign Robertson in the January transfer window under then-manager Thomas Frank. The deal reportedly collapsed after Liverpool withdrew, following their inability to recall Kostas Tsimikas from his loan spell at AS Roma.
Under new head coach Roberto De Zerbi, Tottenham secured Premier League survival on the final day of the season with a win over Everton, and are now strengthening their squad ahead of the new campaign.
Robertson leaves Liverpool as one of their most decorated modern defenders, having made 378 appearances and played a key role in winning two Premier League titles as well as the UEFA Champions League.
On the international stage, he has earned 92 caps for Scotland and is expected to lead the national team at the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
