The Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, has dismissed widespread online claims alleging that the President has converted from Islam, describing the report as completely false.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, Olusegun urged the public to ignore a circulating video making the allegation, insisting it was misleading and untrue.
He clarified that President Bola Tinubu remains a practising Muslim and has never changed his faith. According to him, the President has, however, consistently shown respect for religious diversity within his family.
Olusegun noted that Tinubu’s wife is a Christian pastor, and their household reflects religious tolerance and mutual respect rather than any form of conversion or conflict.
He added that this interfaith harmony in the President’s personal life mirrors his broader approach to national leadership, which he said is anchored on unity and peaceful coexistence among different religious groups in Nigeria.
“The President has always been a Muslim, while also supporting his wife, who is a Pastor. What people see in his family is interfaith understanding, not religious conversion,” he stated.
The clarification comes amid the circulation of a video on social media platforms suggesting that the President had changed his religion, a claim his office has now firmly rejected.
The development has since sparked reactions online, with the Presidency maintaining that the narrative is baseless and should be disregarded.
