ADC Must Not Fail Nigerians Ahead of 2027 — David Mark

The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, has said Nigerians are increasingly in search of a credible political alternative ahead of the 2027 general elections, warning that the party must not fail in meeting those expectations.

Mark made the statement on Saturday during the National Executive Committee meeting of the ADC held in Abuja.

He said the party must position itself as a strong and reliable platform capable of responding effectively to Nigeria’s worsening security and economic challenges.

According to him, “many citizens are increasingly searching for a credible political platform,” stressing that the ADC has a responsibility to rise to the occasion.

The former Senate President expressed concern over the country’s security situation, noting that continued violence and instability have displaced communities and disrupted farming and economic activities in many parts of the country.

He also highlighted the growing economic hardship, including rising inflation, unemployment, and declining purchasing power, saying these conditions require urgent and sincere intervention from leaders at all levels.

Mark, however, stressed that the ADC would not exploit the suffering of Nigerians for political gain, saying the party remains committed to constructive opposition and national stability.

He called on government authorities to intensify efforts to address insecurity and improve living conditions for citizens.

The ADC chairman also urged unity within the party, warning that internal divisions and personal ambitions could weaken its chances ahead of the elections.

He emphasized that disagreements within the party must be resolved through dialogue and established constitutional processes.

Mark acknowledged reports of grievances arising from recent party primaries in several states, assuring members that the leadership would address all complaints in line with party guidelines.

He added that the National Working Committee would carefully review recommendations from appeal committees before taking final decisions.

According to him, the party’s goal is to present credible candidates with the capacity, integrity, and electoral strength to win elections and effectively serve Nigerians.

He further urged members across the country to strengthen the ADC’s grassroots structures and remain committed to building a stronger political platform ahead of 2027.
