Former Governor of Plateau State and elder statesman, Peoples Democratic Party chieftain, Senator Jonah David Jang, has praised the party’s primary elections, describing them as transparent, credible, and rooted in internal democracy.
Jang said the PDP’s approach to selecting its candidates stands in clear contrast to what he described as the practice of some other political parties, where outcomes are allegedly predetermined outside the electoral process.
He made the remarks in a statement released on Friday through his media consultant, Comrade Clinton Garuba, while commending the successful conduct of PDP primaries across the country, including Plateau State, where Hon. Sunday Garba Biggs emerged as the party’s governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to him, the exercise reflected strong organisation, unity, and respect for democratic principles within the party.
He stated that the difference between the PDP and other parties during their primaries was “like night and day,” insisting that while the PDP allowed members’ choices to prevail through a transparent process, others allegedly relied on imposed outcomes he described as “results written in hotel rooms.”
Jang maintained that the PDP had once again reaffirmed its commitment to democracy and the principle of popular mandate.
He also cautioned individuals he described as factional actors within the party in Plateau State, urging them to avoid actions capable of creating division. He affirmed that the PDP in the state remains united under the leadership of Chief Raymond Dabo.
