Dan Nwanyanwu Emerges ZLP Presidential Candidate, Vows Crackdown on Insecurity, Corruption Ahead of 2027 Polls

The presidential candidate of the Zenith Labour Party, Dan Nwanyanwu, has pledged to confront insecurity and corruption head-on if elected president in the 2027 general elections.

He made the commitment on Saturday shortly after securing the party’s presidential ticket at its national convention, where he outlined his agenda for addressing what he described as Nigeria’s most urgent national problems.

Speaking to delegates, Nwanyanwu said insecurity has reached a critical level, warning that it now threatens national stability, economic progress, and public trust in government.

According to him, “Nigeria has become unsafe in many places, and citizens are increasingly losing confidence in the government’s ability to protect lives and property.”

He stressed that no meaningful development can take place in a country struggling with persistent insecurity, insisting that security must be restored before any serious economic progress can be achieved.

Nwanyanwu also blamed past administrations for failing to show enough political will in addressing insecurity, arguing that this has allowed the crisis to persist.

He outlined plans to strengthen intelligence operations and improve coordination among security agencies, saying criminal networks must be identified and dismantled nationwide.

He further vowed that under his leadership, offenders involved in terrorism, kidnapping, banditry, and other violent crimes would face strict prosecution.

The ZLP candidate also advocated for community policing, saying local intelligence remains essential in tackling security challenges effectively.

On corruption, he described it as a major barrier to national development, accusing corrupt practices of diverting funds meant for public welfare and infrastructure.

He promised a strict anti-corruption regime, stressing that no individual would be shielded under his administration regardless of status or political ties.

Nwanyanwu added that recovered public funds would be redirected into development projects aimed at improving citizens’ welfare.

He also highlighted youth empowerment, job creation, and national unity as key priorities, urging Nigerians to rise above ethnic and religious divisions in building a stronger country.
