Former senator representing Adamawa North, Elisha Abbo, has clinched the Labour Party governorship ticket for Adamawa State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
His emergence as the party’s flag bearer followed his clearance and confirmation by the Labour Party national leadership on Saturday, shortly after a screening exercise held at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
With the nomination now secured, Abbo is expected to go head-to-head with candidates from other major parties, including the ruling All Progressives Congress and the Nigeria Democratic Congress, in what is already shaping up to be a tightly contested race.
After receiving the party’s ticket, Abbo pledged to focus his campaign on key issues such as economic recovery, job creation, youth empowerment, improved infrastructure, and stronger social services across Adamawa State. He also emphasized the importance of inclusive governance that prioritises education, healthcare, security, and general welfare.
In a post shared on his Facebook page, the former senator expressed optimism about the coming election, confidently stating that he expects to be sworn in as governor by May 29, 2027, urging supporters to congratulate him in advance.
His nomination is expected to intensify political activity across Adamawa as parties begin wider mobilisation efforts ahead of the polls, with Abbo reportedly set to embark on consultations across all 21 local government areas of the state.
