Security Guard Nabbed in Ogun Over Alleged Theft of Auto Parts

Operatives of the Owode-Egba Division of the Ogun State Police Command have apprehended a 32-year-old security guard, identified as Friday Ayuba, for allegedly stealing motor spare parts belonging to his employer in Ita-Asu Village, Owode-Egba area.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the arrest followed a complaint lodged on May 30, 2026, at about 6:00 pm by the company’s manager.

The manager reportedly alerted the police after the suspect had earlier been intercepted by the Quick Response Squad along the Sagamu Interchange axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway while allegedly trying to move company property without approval.

Preliminary findings indicated that Ayuba, who worked with the company, was found in possession of several auto parts suspected to have been unlawfully taken from the premises. The recovered items include four air controls, two air boosters, two engine seats, and two fuel pumps, all confirmed to belong to the company.

Investigations further revealed that the suspect admitted involvement in the theft during interrogation. Detectives also visited the scene for documentation and further inquiries, while the recovered items were taken as evidence.

The police confirmed that the suspect remains in custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, praised the swift action of the Quick Response Squad and officers of the Owode-Egba Division, as well as the vigilance of the company’s management, which led to the recovery of the stolen items and the arrest of the suspect.

He also reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding businesses and residents across Ogun State through intelligence-driven policing and proactive crime prevention strategies.

Residents and business owners were urged to remain security conscious and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency lines.
