Oluremi Tinubu Assures Nigerians of End to Insecurity, Urges Calm, Hope

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has appealed to citizens to remain calm and optimistic despite rising insecurity in parts of the country, insisting that ongoing efforts by government and security agencies will eventually restore peace.

She made the remarks on May 30, 2026, during a women’s gathering at the Ekitikete Pavilion in Ado Ekiti, where she addressed public concerns over insecurity and encouraged continued trust in national leadership and security operations.

In a statement issued Sunday by her office, Tinubu said the Federal Government is working closely with security agencies and international partners to contain the security situation and strengthen stability across the country.

She expressed confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, stressing that sustained interventions are being deployed to confront insecurity, while urging Nigerians, especially women, to remain steadfast in prayer and hope.

Reaffirming her position, the First Lady said Nigeria remains a blessed nation, adding that the present security difficulties are temporary and will be overcome with time and collective effort.

Her comments come against the backdrop of persistent violent attacks and abductions in several states, including Oyo, Benue, Borno and others, where communities continue to face repeated security threats.

One recent incident cited occurred in the Ahoro Esinele community in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State around May 15, 2026, where armed men attacked schools including Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School. The attackers reportedly abducted about 25 pupils and seven teachers, killed an assistant headmaster, and a teacher later died in captivity.

At the same event, Tinubu announced a N100 million business recapitalisation grant for 2,000 women petty traders in Ekiti State, aimed at strengthening small-scale enterprises and improving household livelihoods.

She also rallied support for Ekiti State Governor and APC governorship candidate, Biodun Oyebanji, ahead of the June 20 poll, commending residents for their support and urging them to back his re-election bid.
