The Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) caucus in the House of Representatives, Afam Ogene, has been endorsed as the consensus candidate for the 2027 House of Representatives election in Ogbaru Federal Constituency, Anambra State.
The decision was reached during the party’s National Assembly primary held on Saturday in Atani, the headquarters of Ogbaru Local Government Area.
Ogene, who is seeking another term in office, was unanimously selected by party stakeholders at the exercise, which brought together members and supporters of the NDC in the constituency.
Reacting to his emergence, he expressed gratitude to party faithful for the confidence reposed in him, attributing his selection to what he described as quality representation, integrity, and a service-driven leadership style.
He also commended supporters for their backing and encouragement, noting that their trust motivates him to do more for the constituency.
Ogene further called on party stakeholders to intensify grassroots mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections, urging them to engage voters across communities in Ogbaru Federal Constituency.
He expressed optimism that early mobilisation would strengthen the party’s chances across all levels of the elections, including presidential, senatorial, House of Representatives, and state assembly contests.
He reassured constituents of continued commitment to their welfare, promising not to disappoint the electorate if re-elected.
