The Ondo State Police Command has arrested six individuals in connection with the alleged illegal sale and transfer of three heavy-duty vehicles valued at more than N71 million.
The suspects, identified as Adeola Kolawole, Gani Bello, Oladoja Akeem, Wasiu Adigun, Azeez Yusuf and Ojo Mudasiru, were apprehended in Ibadan, Oyo State, following an intelligence-led operation by detectives from the Ondo State Command.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the arrests followed a complaint lodged on May 22, 2026, by a resident of Ondo town, Mr Paul Aderemi.
Police investigations revealed that Aderemi had purchased a low-loader truck, a tipper truck and a smaller truck worth about N71 million in May 2025. The vehicles were reportedly entrusted to the principal suspect, Adeola Kolawole, under an arrangement agreed upon by both parties.
Trouble began when the complainant allegedly discovered that the vehicles had been sold without his consent. He subsequently reported the matter to the police, prompting a full-scale investigation.
The command said detectives traced and arrested Kolawole, who allegedly confessed during interrogation that he sold the vehicles to Gani Bello in Ibadan. Information obtained from the suspect reportedly helped investigators identify and arrest the remaining suspects believed to have participated in the transaction.
Police said efforts are ongoing to recover the missing vehicles and uncover the full extent of the alleged fraud.
The command added that all six suspects have provided statements regarding their roles in the matter and will be prosecuted after the completion of investigations.
The police also appealed to residents to continue supporting law enforcement agencies with useful and timely information that can assist in tackling criminal activities and enhancing security across the state.
