Accord Party Confirms Olawepo-Hashim as 2027 Presidential Candidate

The Accord Party has officially endorsed businessman and politician Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim as its presidential flagbearer for the 2027 general election, following the conclusion of its affirmation primaries held across several states in the country.

Party officials announced on Sunday that Olawepo-Hashim emerged with a total of 423,902 affirmative votes in a process they described as peaceful, transparent, and reflective of strong internal support for his leadership ambitions.

In a statement issued by the Olawepo-Hashim Media Office, it was noted that the exercise recorded significant participation from party members and supporters across the states where the affirmation was conducted. Although he was the sole aspirant, the party maintained the process to formally validate his candidacy through a structured internal endorsement.

Announcing the outcome, the Returning Officer for Kebbi State, Yahaya Mohammed, said the exercise complied fully with party guidelines and demonstrated widespread acceptance of the candidate.

He revealed that Jigawa State led the tally with 198,200 votes, followed by Kano with 124,101 votes. Nasarawa State recorded 47,309 votes, Kebbi 46,852 votes, Kwara 3,348 votes, and Lagos 4,548 votes.

According to him, the process was credible and orderly, adding that the results reflected the confidence party members have in Olawepo-Hashim’s vision for national development.

Supporters of the candidate described his emergence as a key milestone for the party, expressing optimism that the Accord Party would offer Nigerians a viable alternative ahead of the 2027 polls. They also portrayed him as a unifying figure capable of bridging political, ethnic, and religious divides.

Olawepo-Hashim, a former student activist turned entrepreneur, has remained active in Nigeria’s political space for decades. He previously contested the 2019 presidential election under the People’s Trust platform, where he campaigned on themes of national unity, economic reform, and restructuring.

Over the years, he has consistently advocated for policies aimed at addressing insecurity, unemployment, and inequality, while also engaging in private-sector investments and public policy discussions.

The Accord Party, established in 2006, maintains a relatively modest presence in Nigeria’s political landscape but has recorded pockets of electoral success, particularly in parts of the South-West.

With Olawepo-Hashim now officially confirmed as its candidate, the party joins other political groups preparing for what is expected to be a highly competitive build-up to the 2027 presidential election, as consultations and coalition talks continue to gather momentum.
