A coalition of Ogun State professionals and stakeholders living abroad under the banner of the Yayi Diaspora Movement has pledged its support for the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, ahead of the 2027 elections.
The group, which has members spread across 23 countries, expressed confidence in Adeola’s ability to drive development and deliver effective governance in Ogun State.
As part of its support efforts, the movement donated a branded campaign vehicle and supplied campaign materials, including T-shirts, fez caps, posters, banners and billboards, to boost awareness of the APC candidate’s governorship bid.
In a statement issued by the group’s secretary, Paul Abina, on Sunday, the movement said the vehicle donation was one of several initiatives designed to mobilise support for Adeola across the state.
Speaking on behalf of the organisation, the convener, Olusola Adisa-Adunbarin, said the gesture reflected the strong belief of Ogun indigenes in the diaspora in Adeola’s leadership qualities and track record in public service.
According to him, Adeola has consistently demonstrated competence, commitment and the capacity to deliver results, qualities he described as essential for the state’s continued growth and development.
Adisa-Adunbarin noted that members of the movement, having lived and worked in different parts of the world, have been exposed to various governance models and believe Adeola possesses the experience and vision required to accelerate progress in Ogun State.
He explained that the campaign vehicle symbolises the group’s collective hope for a better future, adding that the movement would continue to invest resources in voter mobilisation, awareness campaigns and grassroots engagement across the state.
The group also disclosed that it has representatives in all 20 local government areas of Ogun State and intends to leverage its structure to encourage voter participation and strengthen support for the APC candidate.
Global Coordinator of the movement, Adekunle Adegoke, commended members for their commitment and contributions, describing the donation as evidence of the unity and determination of supporters across the world.
He said the organisation remains committed to initiatives aimed at promoting prosperity, inclusiveness and sustainable development in Ogun State.
The movement further acknowledged the support of its patron, Babatunde Olaotan, who praised members for their discipline, dedication and continued interest in the affairs of the state despite residing abroad.
Olaotan urged them to remain united in their pursuit of good governance and long-term development for Ogun State.
Former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Titi Oseni, and Dr Taiwo Ogunremi also lauded the movement for its contributions and commitment to the state’s future.
