A fatal crash involving two commercial tricycles has claimed one life and left three others injured along Haske Road, near the Lamingo Golf Club area in Jos, Plateau State.
The accident occurred on Monday evening when the two tricycles, commonly referred to as Keke Napep, collided head-on.
An eyewitness, Joseph Haruna, said the incident happened around 5:00 p.m. after one of the drivers attempted to swerve around a pothole but ended up crashing into an oncoming tricycle.
He explained that the impact of the collision killed a passenger instantly, while three other occupants sustained varying degrees of injuries.
According to him, sympathisers and emergency responders quickly rushed the injured victims to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Another resident who witnessed the crash, but preferred anonymity, described the incident as unfortunate and blamed the poor condition of the road for contributing to the tragedy. He called on authorities to urgently repair potholes along the axis to prevent further accidents.
“The potholes on that road are very dangerous to both drivers and passengers,” the resident said.
The crash led to temporary traffic disruption as onlookers and commuters gathered at the scene.
When contacted, the Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Plateau State, Peter Longsan, said the agency would verify and confirm the details of the incident.
