The Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging that the party’s state executive committee led by Chief Dr. Benjamin Omale has been dissolved and replaced by a State Working Committee headed by Hon. Austin Agada.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the party described the reports as false, misleading and intended to create confusion among party members and the public.
The statement, signed by the APC State Publicity Secretary, Benedict Yawe, clarified that no court sitting in Makurdi delivered any judgment on Wednesday removing the Omale-led executive. According to the party, claims suggesting otherwise are a distortion of facts and should be disregarded.
The APC further stated that the tenure of the former state executive committee led by Austin Agada had expired, noting that the issue of party leadership in Benue had already been resolved through constitutional processes and party procedures.
The party explained that its state congress, held in February 2026, validly elected Chief Dr. Benjamin Omale and other members of the current executive committee to manage the affairs of the party in the state. It added that the outcome of the congress was ratified by relevant party organs and later confirmed during the APC National Convention held in Abuja in March 2026.
Reaffirming the legitimacy of the current leadership, the APC maintained that Omale remains the duly elected and recognised chairman of the party in Benue State, while members of the present executive committee are the only officials constitutionally empowered to administer the party’s affairs.
The party expressed concern over what it described as attempts by certain individuals and groups to revive narratives that lack legal, constitutional or procedural backing.
According to the statement, the latest reports form part of a misinformation campaign aimed at generating confusion and gaining political relevance through sensational claims.
The APC urged members and supporters to ignore unverified publications on social media and remain focused on the party’s activities. It also reiterated its support for the administration of Hyacinth Alia, stating that the party remains united and committed to advancing development and improving the welfare of residents.
The party advised the public to rely solely on official communications and maintained that no amount of propaganda or media speculation could alter the constitutional status of the Omale-led executive committee as the legitimate leadership of the APC in Benue State.
