Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, has vowed to publicly name political figures allegedly connected to the kidnapping of students in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State if the attacks continue.
Igboho made the statement during a meeting with newly inaugurated leaders of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), led by Akinteye Bàbàtunde, at his residence in the Soka area of Ibadan. His remarks were later circulated in a viral video shared by Wisdom TV.
In the footage, the activist claimed he had offered to assist in rescuing the abducted students but said his intervention was allegedly rejected by the Oyo State Government. He also denied ever demanding financial compensation from the state administration led by Governor Seyi Makinde.
According to him, the kidnappers are not acting alone but are allegedly supported by individuals within the political class who supply them with weapons and funding.
“If I am allowed to go after them in their hideouts, they will run. I know those behind them, and if they continue, I will expose them all. They are the ones sponsoring insecurity with money and arms,” he said.
He further alleged that similar tactics were being used to destabilise successive administrations, claiming that misinformation campaigns were being deployed to create fear and weaken public confidence in government.
Speaking on the rescue efforts, Igboho maintained that he had volunteered to lead an operation to flush out the abductors but said he was warned against taking action. He also claimed he was told the lives of the abducted children could be endangered if he intervened forcefully.
He added that he had received federal backing for a security initiative known as “Iru Ekun,” but said the state government restricted its operations.
“The federal authorities approved my initiative, but the state said no security group should operate. Meanwhile, these criminals are being allowed free movement in the forests,” he stated.
Igboho also defended his loyalty to President Bola Tinubu, insisting he had no intention of working against the administration, while accusing unnamed actors of attempting to undermine it.
The comments come in the wake of the abduction of about 45 pupils from three schools in Oriire LGA on May 15, an incident that has heightened security concerns across Oyo State.
