The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 38-year-old man over the alleged killing of his biological father in Oda Community, Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The incident was confirmed in a statement issued on Thursday in Akure by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh.
According to the police, the suspect was involved in a violent confrontation with his father, which reportedly escalated into a physical assault.
During the altercation, the victim allegedly suffered serious injuries, particularly to the head, and was immediately rushed to a medical facility for treatment. Despite efforts by medical personnel, he was confirmed dead while receiving care.
The police spokesperson further disclosed that the matter was reported to the police by Daniel Moses, a son of the deceased and brother to the suspect.
Following the complaint, detectives commenced investigation and swiftly arrested the suspect for questioning.
The police also confirmed that the remains of the deceased have been deposited in the mortuary, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
He added that the suspect remains in custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
