The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has recorded major breakthroughs in breaking up drug trafficking networks that target and exploit women for illicit drug operations across Nigeria.

‎Femi Babafemi, Director of Media and Advocacy, NDLEA, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Abuja. Babafemi explained that the traffickers lure women with promises of travel, jobs, or financial support, only to coerce them into concealing and transporting drugs within Nigeria and abroad.

‎The agency said its operatives have intensified surveillance at airports, border posts, and motor parks to intercept suspects and rescue victims. Several women have been arrested, counseled, and handed over to rehabilitation programs, while kingpins behind the recruitment schemes face prosecution.

‎NDLEA reiterated its commitment to protecting vulnerable groups from being used as mules in the drug trade. The agency urged the public to report suspicious recruitment offers, especially those targeting unemployed women and single mothers.
