Kano Gov Reshuffles Cabinet, Appoints New Advisers

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle involving the reassignment of several Special Advisers and the appointment of new aides as part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve service delivery.

The governor also scrapped the offices of Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs and Special Adviser on Liaison Offices (Abuja), redeploying the affected officials to new positions.

The development was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa.

According to the statement, Habiba Barwa, who served as Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs, Government House, has been reassigned as Special Adviser on Special Duties (Women).

Similarly, the former Special Adviser on Liaison Offices (Abuja), Umar Akawu, has been redeployed as Special Adviser, Cabinet Office (Political).

Other officials affected by the reshuffle include Akibu Isa Murtala, who was moved from Special Adviser (Administration), Governor’s Office, to Special Adviser on Human Resource; Ibrahim Adam, who was reassigned from Special Adviser on Information to Special Adviser on Social Media; and Nasiru Isa Dikko, who moved from Special Adviser on Non-Governmental Organisations to Special Adviser on Empowerment.

The governor also approved the appointment of Bello Nuhu Bello as Special Adviser (Administration), Governor’s Office. Bello previously served as Senior Special Assistant on Administration to the governor.

Also appointed was the immediate past Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress in Kano State, Hon. Ahmed Muhammad Aruwa, as Special Adviser on Publicity.

Others appointed are Hon. Buhari Sule Kura as Special Adviser on Non-Governmental Organisations and Hon. Yahuza Ado Yankaba as Special Adviser on Motor Parks following his promotion from Senior Special Assistant on the same portfolio.

The statement further listed Hon. Ahmed Tijjani Musa, Hon. Ibrahim Hamisu Rimi, Mustapha Abdullahi Rabiu Kura, Engr. Bashir Abdullahi Kutama, Hon. Naziru Abdullahi Karaye and Hon. Tahir Ado Rabiu among the newly appointed Special Advisers.

Yusuf said the restructuring was aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency and aligning government institutions with the priorities of his administration.

“This restructuring is aimed at strengthening governance, enhancing service delivery and ensuring that government institutions are better positioned to meet the aspirations of the people of Kano State,” the governor was quoted as saying.

He congratulated the appointees and urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them through dedication, loyalty and commitment to public service.

“Public office is a trust. Those entrusted with leadership responsibilities must discharge them with sincerity, accountability and commitment to the development of Kano State and the welfare of its people,” he added.

The statement noted that officials affected by the restructuring had been directed to report to the Secretary to the State Government for further briefing, while portfolios for some of the newly appointed advisers would be announced upon the governor’s return to the country.
