The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced the suspension of the 2026 Batch B Stream I orientation course for prospective corps members deployed to Niger State.
In a statement shared via its official X handle on Sunday, the scheme said the decision was necessitated by ongoing renovation works at the orientation camp.
According to NYSC, affected corps members will be notified at short notice regarding new dates and alternative arrangements for the exercise.
The statement read in part: “This is to notify the general public and prospective corps members deployed to Niger State for the 2026 Batch B Stream I Orientation Course that the exercise has been suspended due to ongoing renovation work at the Orientation Camp.”
It added that updated information on where and when to report would be communicated directly to those affected.
The management expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to prospective corps members and their families.
This latest disruption comes amid recurring infrastructure challenges at NYSC camps across the country.
Earlier in the year, a severe windstorm damaged several facilities at the Niger State orientation camp in Paiko, Paikoro Local Government Area, including male hostels, the multipurpose hall, kitchen, and staff quarters. The incident prompted immediate intervention and repair directives from the state government.
Similar postponements linked to renovation and facility upgrades have also been recorded in states such as Enugu and Osun.
The 2026 Batch B Stream I orientation exercise officially began on June 10, 2026, and was initially scheduled to run nationwide until June 30, 2026.
