The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally presented media professional Latifah Kolapo as its deputy governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Kolapo, who hails from Abeokuta South Local Government Area in Ogun Central Senatorial District, was unveiled during a ceremony at the party’s state secretariat in Abeokuta.
The event drew party leaders, stakeholders, women and youth groups, as well as supporters from different parts of the state who gathered to witness her official presentation as the running mate to the PDP governorship candidate, Oladipupo Adebutu.
Addressing party members after her unveiling, Kolapo expressed gratitude to the PDP leadership for entrusting her with the responsibility, describing her nomination as an opportunity to serve the people of Ogun State.
She pledged her full support to the party and its governorship candidate, promising to deploy her experience and dedication toward achieving the PDP’s vision for the state.
According to her, the party is determined to provide a government focused on economic development, youth empowerment, quality healthcare, improved education and infrastructure.
Kolapo said the PDP ticket offers residents a chance to embrace a leadership style that prioritises the welfare of the people and inclusive development across communities.
She also urged party members and supporters to remain united and intensify mobilisation efforts ahead of the election, noting that voter engagement at the grassroots would play a key role in securing victory.
Speaking at the event, governorship candidate Oladipupo Adebutu described Kolapo as a capable and experienced political figure whose inclusion on the ticket would strengthen the party’s campaign.
He explained that her emergence followed broad consultations among party stakeholders and reflected the PDP’s commitment to competence, inclusiveness and effective governance.
Adebutu maintained that the combination of leadership experience and grassroots appeal represented by the ticket provides a strong alternative for Ogun residents.
He further assured voters that a PDP administration would prioritise job creation, industrial growth, infrastructure development and policies aimed at improving living standards.
Also speaking, the state chairman of the party said Kolapo’s nomination underscores the PDP’s resolve to field qualified candidates capable of delivering good governance.
He called on party faithful across the 20 local government areas of the state to remain focused and united, expressing confidence that sustained mobilisation and teamwork would position the PDP for success in the 2027 election.
