Bauchi Electoral Commission Sets August 17 for LG Polls

The Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) has announced August 17, 2026, as the date for local government council elections in the state, issuing a 60-day official notice to stakeholders.

‎

‎This was disclosed in a statement released on Friday in Bauchi by the Commission’s Secretary, Nuru Abdulhamid.

‎

‎He said the notice complies with the provisions of the state electoral law, which requires formal notification of political parties, stakeholders, and the public ahead of elections.

‎

‎Abdulhamid recalled that the commission had earlier issued a 360-day notice in August 2025 to allow adequate preparation time for political parties and other participants.

‎

‎He urged political parties intending to contest the elections to complete their internal arrangements and ensure strict compliance with electoral guidelines and laws.

‎

‎According to him, full details of the election timetable, procedures, and related information will be released in due course.
