U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday said UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer will resign.
He berated the UK prime minister for failing to tackle the immigration and energy crises.
Mr Trump made this known in a post on Truth Social on Sunday amid reports of Mr Starmer’s planned resignation.
“Keir Starmer will resign as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. He failed badly on two very important subjects- Immigration and Energy (Open North Sea Oil!). I wish him well!” Mr Trump wrote.
Mr Starmer is reportedly set to resign on Monday, following Andy Burnham’s triumphant return to Westminster in the Makerfield by-election.
After leading the Labour Party to a landslide electoral victory that ousted the Conservative Party from power in 2024, Mr Starmer’s popularity has plummeted as his party continues to suffer losses in other elections.
Mr Starmer’s resignation would bring the number of UK prime ministers to seven in over a decade, reflecting frequent and significant leadership turnover, sparked by continued public dissatisfaction with their performance.
