Kaduna Police Arraign 24 Suspects over Maraban-Jos Mob Killing

The Kaduna State Police Command has arraigned 24 suspects before a Magistrate Court sitting at NDA Junction, Kaduna, over their alleged involvement in the mob killing of a woman in Maraban Jos.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Kaduna.

He said the suspects were charged with criminal conspiracy, inciting public disturbance, mischief, destruction of public and police property, and culpable homicide.

According to him, the arraignment followed a comprehensive investigation into the incident that occurred on June 21, 2026, during which the victim was allegedly killed by a violent mob after being removed from police custody.

Mr Hassan stated that the matter was mentioned before the court and subsequently adjourned to July 21, for further hearing.

He added that the court ordered the remand of all the suspects in a correctional facility pending the determination of the case.

The police spokesman said the command strongly condemned mob action and jungle justice, warning that individuals who take the law into their own hands would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

He further disclosed that more than 100 additional suspects were still under investigation for their alleged involvement in the incident.

“Those found culpable will also be arraigned before the court,” he said.
The Commissioner of Police in Kaduna, CP Muhammad Rabiu, assured the public of the command’s commitment to ensuring justice for the victim and maintaining law and order across the state.

He urged members of the public to report criminal allegations and grievances through lawful channels rather than resorting to violence.

The police reiterated their resolve to bring all those connected with the incident to justice and called on residents to cooperate with security agencies in the fight against crime and unlawful acts.
