French health authorities have confirmed the country’s first case of Ebola after a doctor returning from the Democratic Republic of Congo tested positive for the virus.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Ministry of Health announced that the infection was detected within French territory, marking the first officially confirmed Ebola case in the country. Officials later clarified that the patient was identified in mainland France.
The ministry said health agencies are closely monitoring the situation and implementing necessary measures to prevent further transmission of the disease.
Ebola, a highly infectious viral illness, has continued to pose significant health challenges in parts of Central Africa, particularly in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where outbreaks have been reported in recent years.
The announcement comes amid growing international concern over the spread of the virus, prompting heightened surveillance and public health precautions across affected regions.
