The Kebbi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended its State Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Kana-Zuru, and the party chairman in Zuru Local Government Area, Hon. Aliyu Abubakar Abiola, over alleged violations of party regulations.
The suspension was announced in a statement issued by the APC State Secretary, Alhaji Sa’idu Muhammad Kimba, and made available to journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the action followed complaints lodged by stakeholders from the Zuru Emirate, who accused the officials of showing insufficient commitment to party activities, failing to adequately engage key stakeholders, weak mobilization efforts, and non-adherence to established party procedures and principles.
The party said it conducted an internal review of the allegations before arriving at the decision to impose disciplinary measures.
As part of the resolutions reached, Kana-Zuru was suspended from his position as state chairman, while the deputy state chairman is expected to oversee the affairs of the party in an acting capacity pending further directives. Abiola was also suspended as APC chairman in Zuru Local Government Area.
Meanwhile, the Kebbi State Government has suspended the Commissioner for Livestock Development and Fisheries, Alhaji Kabir Usman Alaramma Zuru.
The suspension was disclosed in a separate statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala-Tafida, on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the directive takes immediate effect and will remain in force until further notice. The commissioner was instructed to hand over all government property and official responsibilities in his possession to the Permanent Secretary of the ministry pending further action.
No official reason was given for the commissioner’s suspension.
