The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward 7, Esa-Oke, Osun State, has dismissed claims made by Governor Ademola Adeleke linking a senior APC figure, Wole Oke, to the killing of an Accord Party member, Ajayi Aderogba.
Governor Adeleke had alleged that Oke, who serves as the Director-General of the Osun APC Campaign Council, was behind the attack that led to Aderogba’s death. The Accord Party and other political stakeholders also echoed similar accusations.
However, the APC has strongly rejected the claims, warning against politicising the incident and stressing that only a proper police investigation can determine those responsible.
Speaking to journalists in Esa-Oke on Friday, the APC Ward 7 Stakeholders Chairman, Prof. Siji Olamiju, urged security agencies to carry out a full, fair, and transparent probe into the killing.
Aderogba was reportedly shot dead by unidentified gunmen on Tuesday in Esa-Oke, an incident that has since sparked political tension in Osun State.
Following the incident, Governor Adeleke, during a condolence visit to the deceased’s family, accused Wole Oke of masterminding the attack. The Imole Campaign Council spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, also backed the allegation.
In response, Oke, through his media aide, Tunde Omolebi-Sunday, denied any involvement, describing the claims as false and politically driven.
Olamiju insisted that the death should not be used for political advantage, noting that neither the APC Ward 7 nor Oke had any link to the incident.
He urged political actors to allow security agencies to do their work without interference, warning against speculation and “media trial.”
He also called on the police to investigate all credible leads and engage individuals who may help uncover the truth behind the killing.
Residents of Esa-Oke were further advised to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information while investigations continue.
