Tinubu Swears in Abdullahi Mukhtar, Amina Gamawa as New RMAFC Commissioners

ABUJA — President Bola Tinubu has sworn in two new Federal Commissioners of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC, with the commission’s leadership expressing confidence that their appointments will strengthen fiscal governance, transparency and equitable revenue allocation across the country.

The newly inaugurated commissioners are Abdullahi Mukhtar Muhammad, representing Kaduna State, and Amina Ibrahim Gamawa, representing Bauchi State.

Welcoming the appointments in a statement issued on Wednesday, the Chairman of the RMAFC, Dr. Mohammed Bello Shehu, described the development as “timely and significant”, saying the experience and professional competence of the two commissioners would further enhance the commission’s constitutional mandate.

He said the appointments would strengthen the commission’s responsibility of “ensuring fairness, transparency and fiscal sustainability in the mobilisation, allocation and disbursement of revenues accruing to the Federation.”

“On behalf of the management and entire staff of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, I warmly congratulate and welcome our newly sworn-in Federal Commissioners. Your appointments are a call to greater national service and a recognition of your distinguished records of integrity, competence and dedication,” Shehu said.

The RMAFC chairman urged the new commissioners to remain committed to the constitutional responsibilities of the commission, stressing the need for teamwork, professionalism and patriotism in advancing its strategic objectives.

According to him, “the commission occupies a strategic position in Nigeria’s fiscal architecture and plays a vital role in promoting equity in revenue allocation and strengthening revenue mobilisation for national development.”

“The Commission occupies a critical position in Nigeria’s fiscal architecture. I am confident that your wealth of experience will strengthen our collective resolve to promote equity in revenue allocation, enhance revenue mobilisation and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s economic growth and development,” he stated.

Shehu also assured the new commissioners of the commission’s full support as they assume office, expressing optimism that their appointments would further improve the institution’s capacity to discharge its constitutional mandate “efficiently and effectively.”
