The University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, UCTH, has inaugurated a new Anti Corruption and Transparency Unit, ACTU, Committee for a three year tenure, reaffirming its commitment to transparency, accountability and ethical service delivery.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by members of the hospital management and staff, alongside officials of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, from the Uyo Zonal Office.
As part of the programme, officials of the anti graft agency delivered a lecture on the roles and responsibilities of ACTU in promoting integrity, strengthening institutional accountability and preventing corruption within public sector organisations.
The event also featured the administration of the oath of office on the newly inaugurated committee members by the ICPC Legal Officer.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Chief Medical Director of UCTH, Prof. Ikpeme A. Ikpeme, charged members of the committee to uphold the core values of integrity, transparency and accountability in the discharge of their duties.
He urged the committee to work diligently towards promoting ethical conduct and strengthening internal accountability mechanisms within the hospital.
In response, members of the committee pledged to collaborate closely with management and staff to promote ethical standards, reinforce accountability structures and support the hospital’s vision of excellence in healthcare service delivery.
The management of UCTH congratulated the committee on its appointment and expressed confidence in its ability to foster a culture of integrity, transparency and accountability across the institution.
Management also wished the committee a successful tenure, expressing optimism that its activities would further entrench good governance and enhance public trust in the hospital.
