Police to Arraign Alleged Fake Agency DG Adeyemi on Tuesday

Adeniyi Adeyemi, who allegedly presented himself as the Director-General of the non-existent Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), is set to be arraigned before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday.

‎

‎The Nigeria Police have filed an eight-count charge against Adeyemi and two other defendants, accusing them of offences including forgery and impersonation. The case, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025, was filed on November 27, 2025, by police prosecutor Wisdom Madaki.

‎

‎The defendants were initially expected to enter their plea on June 16, but proceedings were postponed after Adeyemi was reported to be ill. Justice Mohammed Umar subsequently adjourned the matter until Tuesday.

‎

‎According to the charge sheet, the prosecution plans to call several witnesses, including the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, alongside Paul Emmanuel, Jeremiah Imoukhede and several officials from the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation. A Deputy Superintendent of Police, Adamu Balongu, as well as other individuals allegedly linked to the activities of the fake agency, are also expected to testify.

‎

‎The police intend to present documentary evidence, including the investigation report, a petition submitted by Gbajabiamila on October 17, 2025, and an alleged fake presidential appointment letter dated March 8, 2024.

‎

‎Other documents expected to be tendered include correspondence with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, approvals allegedly obtained to open accounts with the Central Bank of Nigeria, requests for self-accounting approval sent to the Office of the Accountant-General, and documents relating to the purported establishment of the PFIPC. Statements from witnesses and defendants, photographs, and letters seeking collaboration with government agencies across the 36 states are also listed as evidence.

‎

‎The prosecution stated that it reserves the right to call additional witnesses during the trial if necessary.

‎

‎Police alleged that Adeyemi operated the fictitious agency from the second floor of the Federal Secretariat Complex, Phase III, Abuja, before his arrest.

‎

‎Meanwhile, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has been directed by Bola Ahmed Tinubu to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the activities of the alleged fake agency, with a 30-day deadline to conclude its probe.
