2027: Opposition Poses No Threat to Tinubu’s Re-election – Maigari

‎The Minister of State for Regional Development, Uba Maigari, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure a decisive victory in the 2027 general election, insisting that no opposition party or coalition currently poses a serious challenge.

‎

‎Speaking with journalists on Wednesday after an All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders’ meeting in Jalingo, Taraba State, Mr Maigari said the opposition had failed to present a credible alternative capable of winning the confidence of Nigerians.

‎

‎He argued that opposition figures had focused more on changing political parties than offering practical solutions or convincing reasons for voters to support them.

‎

‎“I can tell you for free that the victory in 2027 will be very loud. Look at the opposition candidates. Apart from moving from one political party to another, what have they done to make Nigerians vote for them? Nothing,” he said.

‎

‎Mr Maigari attributed the APC’s confidence to what he described as the Tinubu administration’s achievements in key sectors, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, human capital development and economic reforms.

‎

‎According to him, the president’s policies and development initiatives have created a solid foundation that would strengthen the party’s chances in the next general election.

‎

‎“The President has laid the foundation for a sound victory in 2027 through strategic development across different sectors of the country,” he added.

‎

‎On political developments in Taraba State, the minister praised Governor Agbu Kefas for promoting unity and inclusiveness within the APC, expressing confidence that party members would continue to support the governor’s leadership and efforts to deliver effective governance.

‎

‎Mr Maigari also rejected claims that the ruling party was using government institutions to target opposition politicians. He maintained that public institutions were carrying out their constitutional duties and that legitimate investigations should not be viewed as acts of political intimidation.

‎

‎“State institutions have constitutional responsibilities. When they investigate or engage individuals over genuine issues, it should not automatically be interpreted as political persecution,” he said.

‎

‎The APC stakeholders’ meeting in Jalingo formed part of the party’s ongoing efforts to strengthen internal unity and prepare for future political activities in Taraba State.
