SPAR Mall, one of Calabar’s foremost shopping destinations, has marked its 10th anniversary in the Cross River State capital, applauding the state government for fostering a business friendly environment and appreciating customers and partners for their support over the years.
The colourful celebration, which featured cultural performances and carnival displays, drew business associates, shoppers and other guests, underscoring the mall’s contribution to commercial activities in the city and its commitment to quality service delivery.
Speaking at the event, former Minister of Culture and Tourism, High Chief Edem Duke, recalled his role in attracting the investment to Calabar.
According to him, he encouraged SPAR’s management to establish the shopping complex in the city because of his conviction that Calabar needed a modern retail centre capable of stimulating economic growth and meeting the needs of residents.
Duke noted that the investment had transformed the retail landscape in Cross River State and generated employment opportunities for many young people.
Also speaking, SPAR’s Chief Operations Officer, Vinayak Bhivare, commended the Cross River State Government for creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
He expressed appreciation to customers and business partners for their loyalty and support, stressing that the company’s achievements over the last decade would not have been possible without their contributions.
Bhivare reaffirmed SPAR’s commitment to maintaining high standards and enhancing customer satisfaction in the years ahead.
The Head of Human Resources, Vivian Emmanuel, described the anniversary as a landmark achievement for the organisation and praised members of staff for their dedication and professionalism.
She attributed the mall’s success to the commitment of its workforce and the confidence customers had continued to place in the brand.
Mall Manager, Gbenga Ewarawon, thanked residents of Calabar for their patronage and pledged that management would continue to provide quality products and services.
He assured customers that SPAR would remain committed to delivering an exceptional shopping experience.
A shop owner at the mall, Mrs Andifonkan Samuel, commended SPAR for creating opportunities for entrepreneurs and providing a conducive environment for businesses to flourish.
In her remarks, a former mall manager, Mrs Kemi Daniel, lauded Chief Edem Duke for facilitating the investment, noting that the shopping complex had created jobs for many residents and expanded access to quality retail services in the state.
She said SPAR had continued to make significant contributions to the state’s economy through employment generation and improved retail services.
Over the last decade, SPAR Mall has established itself as a major shopping and leisure destination in Cross River State, offering a wide range of products and services while contributing to economic growth.
The celebration reached its climax with the commissioning of a 500 seat event hall and the cutting of an anniversary cake to commemorate the milestone.
