Gov Sule Sacks Six Commissioners in Nasarawa Cabinet Reshuffle

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has removed six commissioners from his cabinet in a minor reshuffle aimed at improving governance and injecting fresh ideas into his administration.

‎

‎The development was announced on Tuesday in Lafia by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Labaran Magaji, while briefing journalists after the State Executive Council meeting.

‎

‎According to Magaji, the affected commissioners headed the Ministries of Works, Women Affairs, Information, Lands, Science and Technology, and Security and Sundry Matters.

‎

‎He explained that the decision was taken to bring renewed energy into government and enhance service delivery during the remaining period of the administration, stressing that it was not linked to poor performance.

‎

‎Magaji noted that the State Executive Council recognised the dedication, efficiency and contributions of the affected commissioners throughout their time in office.

‎

‎He said the reshuffle was designed to reposition the administration and ensure the successful implementation of Governor Sule’s agenda before the end of his tenure.

‎

‎The SSG added that the former commissioners would remain part of the government and could be assigned other responsibilities in the future.

‎

‎He also disclosed that names of their replacements would be announced through the appropriate channels.

‎

‎Meanwhile, Magaji said the council also reviewed strategies for boosting the state’s internally generated revenue through investments in the lithium sector.

‎

‎He explained that the discussions followed the recent inauguration of one of Africa’s largest lithium processing plants in Nasarawa by President Bola Tinubu, who was represented at the event by Vice-President Kashim Shettima.

‎

‎According to him, the state government is developing measures to maximise the economic gains from the expanding lithium processing industry, adding that details of the resolutions reached would be unveiled at the appropriate time.
