2027: Kogi East Declares Support for PDP

The people of Kogi East Senatorial District have reportedly declared their support for the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Muhammed Abdullahi Elephant, ahead of the 2027 Kogi East Senatorial election.

‎

‎Addressing journalists over the weekend, Alhaji Muhammed Abdullahi Elephant said he joined the senatorial race to reposition the leadership of both the party and Kogi East Senatorial District. He alleged that the ruling party has failed to deliver the expected dividends of democracy to the people, expressing confidence that the PDP is well-positioned to emerge victorious in the forthcoming election.

‎

‎According to him, his decision to contest was informed by what he described as the lack of meaningful development and the neglect of Kogi East by the ruling party. He pledged to work closely with the national leadership of the PDP to advance the interests of the district.

‎

‎Alhaji Elephant, who is the Chairman of Elephant Security Guard, Chairman of Elephant Microfinance Bank, and Chairman of Elephant Estate Developers, among other business interests, highlighted his track record in youth and community empowerment.

‎

‎He stated that he has empowered over 50,000 youths, women, and other vulnerable groups through various initiatives and disclosed plans to mobilize resources to support all PDP candidates across Kogi East during the 2027 general elections.

‎

‎The PDP senatorial hopeful also commended the leadership of the party in Kogi East under the Zonal Chairman, Hon. Idris Igagwu, for maintaining unity, peace, and stability within the party. He noted that while several political parties, including the ruling party, were yet to conclude their candidate selection processes, the PDP had already begun preparations and put campaign structures in place.

‎

‎Calling on all PDP candidates to brace up for what he described as the “mother of all campaigns,” Alhaji Elephant expressed optimism that the party would reclaim power through the support of the electorate.

‎

‎It will be recalled that Alhaji Muhammed Abdullahi Elephant previously contested for the governorship of Kogi State under the platform of Accord Party,2019,House of Representatives Ankpa, Omala, Olamaboro federal constituency in,2011 under the platform of PDP, and the 2015 Governorship race.He is widely regarded by his supporters as a grassroots mobilizer with extensive political and business networks across the state.
