Nigeria recorded two more silver medals at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Saturday, with the men’s 4x100m relay team and long jumper Ruth Usoro delivering podium finishes.

‎The relay quartet of Favour Ashe, Kayinsola Ajayi, Nicholas Fakorede and Udodi Onwuzurike claimed silver after posting a season-best time of 38.12 seconds. Australia won the race in 38.07 seconds, while Ghana settled for bronze in 38.13 seconds. Canada and South Africa were disqualified.

‎In the women’s long jump, Ruth Usoro also secured silver with a season-best leap of 6.87 metres, achieved on her opening attempt. The performance marked an improvement on her sixth-place finish at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

‎England’s Jazmin Sawyers claimed the gold medal with a jump of 6.93 metres, while Barbados’ Tia-Adana Belle earned bronze with 6.83 metres.

‎Team Nigeria wrapped up the ninth day of competition with one gold, two silver and one bronze medal. Samuel Ogazi made history by winning Nigeria’s first-ever Commonwealth Games gold in the men’s 400m, while Ella Onojuvwevo added a bronze in the women’s 400m.
