SDP Women Applaud INEC Listing of Adebayo as Party’s 2027 Presidential Candidate

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) Women Parliament has praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for officially listing Adewole Adebayo as the party’s presidential candidate, describing the move as a major boost to the party’s preparations for the next general election.

‎

‎Speaking in a statement released on Sunday in Abuja, the parliament’s National Speaker, Sa’adatu Abdullahi, said the recognition reaffirmed the SDP’s determination to present Nigerians with a credible leadership option.

‎

‎She noted that the publication of Adebayo’s name, alongside his running mate, Usman Bugaje, reflected the commitment of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to a transparent and democratic nomination process.

‎

‎According to Abdullahi, the confirmation of the party’s presidential ticket demonstrates the SDP’s readiness to campaign on the principles of good governance, social justice, economic development and the rule of law.

‎

‎She expressed confidence in Adebayo’s ability to provide purposeful leadership, describing him as a candidate with the integrity, competence and vision needed to address Nigeria’s pressing challenges.

‎

‎The SDP Women Parliament also commended INEC for handling the nomination process with fairness, transparency and due process, saying the commission’s actions strengthened confidence in the electoral process.

‎

‎Abdullahi added that the growing support for the SDP across the country reflected Nigerians’ increasing desire for a political alternative built on integrity, inclusiveness and people-oriented governance.

‎

‎She called on women, young people, party members and supporters to remain united and intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the election while promoting issue-based campaigns that highlight the party’s vision for a peaceful, prosperous and inclusive Nigeria.

‎

‎She also appealed to Nigerians to keep Adebayo in their prayers, asking for wisdom, strength, good health and divine guidance as he prepares for the presidential race.

‎

‎Abdullahi reaffirmed the commitment of the SDP Women Parliament to mobilising women nationwide in support of the party’s programmes and its presidential ticket.
