Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has responded to Afrobeats singer Davido’s call for politicians to allow Osun residents freely choose their next governor, saying the musician should direct his message to the electorate instead.
Uzodimma, who heads the APC National Campaign Council for the Osun governorship election, assured that the party remains committed to conducting a peaceful, transparent and credible poll. He, however, accused Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration of poor performance, claiming many residents are prepared to vote for a change.
The governor also took a swipe at Davido, advising him to plan for the outcome of the August 15 election by finding a role for his uncle as a dancer in his music crew if the election does not go their way.
The exchange adds to growing political tension ahead of the Osun governorship election, with claims of intimidation, arrests of some Adeleke supporters and the EFCC’s freezing of state government accounts further heightening concerns around the exercise.
