Al-Ahli striker and England international Ivan Toney has been charged with assault following an alleged incident at a nightclub in central London.
The Metropolitan Police said the incident happened on December 6, 2025, at a nightclub on Wardour Street in Soho. According to the police, Toney, 30, was charged on July 31 with assault causing actual bodily harm.
The former Brentford forward is expected to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on September 24, 2026, for his first court hearing in connection with the case.
Toney recently featured for England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and currently plays for Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli, whom he joined in 2024.
A spokesperson for the footballer confirmed that Toney is aware of the charge but expressed surprise over the development.
“Ivan acknowledges the charge, and although he is naturally shocked, he looks forward to being given the opportunity to clear his name in court,” the spokesperson said.
The allegation relates specifically to an incident said to have taken place at the Soho nightclub on December 6, 2025. Toney will now have the opportunity to respond to the allegation when proceedings begin in court.
