The African Youth Peace Corps, AYPC, has announced the appointment of veteran journalist and youth advocate, Dr. Gabriel Aduojo Atumeyi, as its Country Peace Coordinator for Nigeria.
In a statement released on Sunday, the continental youth movement said the appointment was in recognition of Dr. Atumeyi’s commitment to peacebuilding, youth empowerment, and public advocacy spanning over a decade.
“Your dedication to peace, unity and youth empowerment continues to be an inspiration,” AYPC stated.
“We are confident that under your leadership, AYPC Nigeria will thrive and create lasting impact across communities. Your leadership, dedication and commitment to peacebuilding will be instrumental in advancing the AYPC mission across Nigeria.”
Atumeyi, a former Reporter and Political Correspondent with _Leadership Newspaper, Daily Asset Newspaper, and was Group Associate Editor of True Vision Newspaper,_ and once the Communications Director of Citizens Awareness against Corruption and Social Vices Initiative, CAACASVI.
Reacting to the appointment, Dr. Atumeyi described AYPC as a critical platform for galvanizing positive change across Africa.
“This is not just a title. It is a call to serve. A call to build peace, empower youth, and transform communities across Nigeria,” he said.
“To every young Nigerian: Africa’s future will be shaped by those who choose to act. Let’s build it together. Thank you AYPC for this trust,” Atumeyi added.
AYPC is a Pan-African movement focused on peacebuilding, leadership development, humanitarian service, and community transformation driven by young Africans.
The organization said Atumeyi’s appointment takes immediate effect.
