Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have reported a sharp rise in the number of terrorists and their associates abandoning their groups and surrendering across the North-East, attributing the development to sustained military operations against terrorist strongholds and logistics networks.

‎The acting spokesperson for the operation, Mohammed Goni, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, saying coordinated ground operations had targeted terrorist positions, supply routes and other support networks in an effort to weaken their operational capacity and restrict their freedom of movement.

‎According to Goni, the theatre recorded a 213 per cent increase in terrorist surrenders during the period under review compared with the previous week.
‎
‎He said the growing number of surrenders showed that continued military pressure was affecting the morale, cohesion and ability of terrorist groups to maintain prolonged operations.
‎
‎Goni also disclosed that two high-ranking terrorist members surrendered to troops on Wednesday, bringing arms, ammunition and other military equipment with them.
‎
‎He said the recovery of the weapons provided further evidence that sustained military action was weakening the terrorists’ ability to retain fighters and maintain their operations.
‎
‎The spokesperson also recalled that other members of the group surrendered to troops of 202 Battalion in Bama on August 7 at New Abaram.
‎
‎He attributed their decision to surrender to continued military pressure as well as internal disagreements within the terrorist enclave.
‎
‎The surrendered individuals were subsequently screened, while mobile phones and other items were recovered from them before they were handed over for further action in line with established procedures.
‎
‎Goni said the latest developments further demonstrated the impact of military operations and growing internal divisions within terrorist ranks.
