Kogi Govt Lauds Foundation for Rebuilding School, Seeks More Private Support ‎

The Kogi State Government has praised the Henry Adetayo Foundation for renovating Community Secondary School, Oke-Agi, in Mopamuro Local Government Area, while calling on more private individuals and organisations to support efforts to improve education infrastructure across the state.

‎

‎The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, made the commendation on Wednesday during an inspection of the reconstructed school.

‎

‎Fanwo described the project as a significant example of responsible citizenship and an investment that would benefit the community for years to come. He urged individuals, organisations and other private-sector players to partner with the government in providing better learning facilities.

‎

‎He commended the foundation, led by Arayegbemi Adebayo, for transforming the school and contributing to the educational development of Oke-Agi and neighbouring communities.

‎

‎According to the commissioner, the administration of Governor Ahmed Ododo is allocating more than 30 per cent of the state’s expenditure to education. However, he acknowledged that government resources alone could not address all the infrastructural challenges facing schools across Kogi.

‎

‎Fanwo said the foundation’s approach demonstrated how private citizens could contribute meaningfully to public development without undermining the image of institutions.

‎

‎He noted that the state government was also renovating and remodelling schools in several communities, with the aim of creating modern facilities capable of attracting more students to public schools.

‎

‎The commissioner said the increasing participation of individuals and non-governmental organisations in education projects was an indication of growing confidence in the Ododo administration and its commitment to effective governance.

‎

‎He further assured residents of Oke-Agi that the government would consider assuming responsibility for the management of the reconstructed school.

‎

‎As part of additional support for the students, Fanwo announced a N1.75 million package comprising scholarships and communication gadgets to assist learning in the school.

‎

‎He reiterated the government’s call for more private-sector involvement in improving educational facilities across Kogi State.
