Kwankwaso Boasts: My Alliance With Obi Can Defeat Any Party in 2027

Vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Kwankwaso, says the Peter Obi/Rabiu Kwankwaso ticket is unbeatable in terms of credibility and capacity.

Mr Kwankwaso made the assertion on Sunday in Abuja.

According to him, the combination of Mr Obi and himself is capable of defeating any other contender in the 2027 presidential election.

The former governor said the decision for both of them to come together was to produce a balanced ticket that would unite Nigerians across regional and religious divides.

He said the ticket combined Mr Obi’s strong support in the South and his political influence in the North to create a broad national political platform.

“Nobody, no ticket, can beat our own in terms of credibility, capacity and of course, love for the country.

“Even in terms of empathy for the poor who are suffering across the country today, no other contender can match us,” he said.

Mr Kwankwaso said his experience from the 2023 election had also helped him to understand the former Anambra governor better and convinced him that both of them could work together.

He said the country needed a change because of worsening insecurity, poverty, deteriorating infrastructure and challenges confronting farmers.

He added that the removal of the fuel subsidy had not translated into improved living conditions for Nigerians, while farmers were also struggling because of cheap imported food.

The former Kano State governor said the alliance among the Kwankwasiyya Movement, NDC and Mr Obi’s supporters was aimed at bringing about a democratic change similar to the change witnessed in 2015.

He said the partnership was also built on the principles of fairness, justice and equity, stressing that both leaders were committed to improving the lives of Nigerians.

Mr Kwankwaso said he accepted the vice-presidential position in the interest of national service, which should not be viewed solely from the perspective of occupying the number two position.
