Faleke to Davido: Face Your Music While We Face Our Politics

James Faleke, a member of the house of representatives, has hit back at David Adeleke, the Afrobeats singer popularly known as Davido.

Faleke was reacting to Davido’s allegation that the legislator was pressuring the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to alter the Osun governorship election outcome.

Davido, who is the nephew of Ademola Adeleke, the incumbent Osun governor, had urged Faleke to respect the wishes of voters, adding that the people had rejected Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, and Gboyega Oyetola, former governor of the state.

“Hon. James Faleke, stop putting pressure on INEC to change Osun election result. Respect the wishes of Osun people. We don’t want Oyetola and AMBO,” Davido wrote on X.

Responding to the singer, Faleke said he travelled to Osun to support his party’s candidate, just as Davido supported Accord, his uncle’s party.

“I came to Osun to support my party’s candidate, while you supported your uncle’s party (Accord),” Faleke said.

He rejected the allegation that he could influence the outcome of the poll.

“INEC is a body that can’t be influenced by me or anyone else. I have never influenced or rigged before and I don’t plan to start now. Face your music while we face our politics,” he added.

The exchange came after Davido declared that he would never support the APC.

The singer had earlier written on X: “I CAN NEVER SUPPORT APC IN MY LIFE!!!”

In another post, Davido appealed to President Bola Tinubu to rein in members and supporters of the ruling party.

“Call your pple to order!! @officialABAT,” he wrote.

On Sunday morning, INEC declared Adeleke winner of the contest.
