The U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) will host an African delegation of power sector stakeholders from Angola, Botswana, Mozambique and Zambia between August 29 and September 5 to discuss securing and modernising electricity distribution in Southern Africa, according to a statement on Monday.
The delegation of about 15 people will visit Denver, Colorado and Austin, Texas, to meet with American energy companies and “integrate AI-enabled grid control systems”.
Delegates are also scheduled to meet with representatives of regulatory bodies such as the Colorado Public Utilities Commission and the Electric Reliability Council of Texas.
The USTDA has planned a presser for September 1 to create an avenue where U.S. energy companies will meet and engage one-on-one with the delegation, showcasing their grid security solutions and how they can collaborate to improve the power sector in Southern Africa.
