The Cross River State Police Command has arrested a 37 year old security guard, identified as Ndifreke Godwin, in connection with the sexual assault of an eight year old girl along Tinapa Road, Calabar.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday, saying the suspect was arrested after the victim’s mother reported the incident to the Police on August 29, 2026.
According to the statement, preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect lured the minor to his residence under the pretext of giving her money, where he sexually assaulted her.
The Police said the victim has been issued a medical form for necessary medical examination and treatment.
The case has also been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, for discreet and comprehensive investigation.
The Command assured the public that the suspect would be accorded due process, adding that appropriate legal action would be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.
