A total of 930 students of the Taraba State College of Nursing Science have graduated.
The Provost of the college, Dr Mrs Dorcas S. Dugule, disclosed this during the institution’s second convocation ceremony held in Jalingo.
She expressed appreciation to Governor Agbu Kefas for his continued support for the development of the college.
“Your commitment to the health and education sectors is evident in the massive infrastructural development we are witnessing in this college. New lecture halls, skills laboratories, hostels and perimeter fencing are testimonies to your ‘Moving Forward’ agenda.
“On behalf of the Council, Management, Staff and Students, we say thank you, sir. Your investment in human capital will save lives for generations to come,” she said.
Dr Dugule appealed to the governor to address three areas requiring his attention, including security, staffing and the upcoming accreditation exercise.
“We plead for your continued commitment to producing competent, ethical and professional nurses for Taraba State.
“We request additional security personnel, patrol support and gadgets that can protect our equipment and the facilities we have on the ground. We seek urgent approval to recruit additional academic and non-academic staff to meet NBTE and NMCN standards.
“We solicit government support ahead of the NMCN visit to ensure that the college meets every requirement needed for the successful accreditation,” she stated.
She noted that the administration had contributed significantly to the improvement of infrastructure at the institution, citing the construction of lecture halls, perimeter fencing and other developmental projects as notable interventions.
The provost congratulated the graduands and urged them to uphold the values, discipline and professional standards acquired during their training.
“To our graduands, go and serve with excellence. Let the light of Taraba State College of Nursing Science, Jalingo, shine through every ward and clinic you enter.”
She also appreciated the parents and families of the graduands for the sacrifices they made in supporting them to reach the current level.
