SDP Presidential Candidate Unveils Blueprint, Says Four Years Enough for Reforms

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo, on Tuesday presented a comprehensive policy blueprint to shift national discourse toward ideas-based governance and institutional reform.

‎

‎Mr Adebayo,‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌ who did the public presentation of the presidential blueprint, entitled: ‘Farewell to Poverty and Insecurity’ in Abuja, decried the economic and security challenges currently confronting the country.

‎

‎He argued that the nation’s challenges stemmed directly from past leadership failures rather than natural limitations.

‎

‎Mr Adebayo, however, said a four-year term was ample time for a focused administration to deliver tangible structural results, comparing it to completing a university degree.

‎

‎The new blueprint focuses on human development, economic productivity, and local infrastructure solutions.

‎

‎According to him, the blueprint outlines a path to generate 75,000 megawatts of electricity, establish four functional public refineries alongside 36 modular refineries, and stabilise the national currency through integrated productivity and employment.

‎

‎Mr Adebayo, who framed the policy document as an invitation to move away from politics based on ethnicity and tribalism toward a future driven by accountability and sustainable leadership, urged citizens to evaluate it ahead of the 2027 polls,

‎

‎Reinforcing the presidential candidate’s earlier remarks, the party’s national chairman, Prof. Sadiq Gombe, said governance must move beyond mere administration to practical problem-solving.

‎

‎”Without security, there can be no meaningful production; without production, there can be no sustainable prosperity,” the chairman stated, outlining the party’s core governance philosophy.

‎

‎Emphasising the party’s focus on execution and strict oversight, Mr Gombe said the framework relied heavily on performance contracts, regular public monitoring and rigorous accountability mechanisms.

‎

‎”What our people are now demanding is delivery.

‎

‎“They want to know what government has promised, what government has done, what remains outstanding and who is responsible,” he added.

‎

‎Also speaking, the party’s vice-presidential candidate, Dr Usman Bugaje, noted that while Nigerian professionals excelled globally, the nation lagged behind its regional peers in critical development parameters like energy production.

‎

‎Mr Bugaje said that with the country’s population projected to reach roughly 400 million in the next 25 years, proactive leadership was urgently required to prepare Nigeria for a leading global economic role.

‎

‎On agricultural productivity, Mr Bugaje noted stark structural inefficiencies compared to international standards.

‎

‎“Nigeria’s productivity is still between five and six metric tonnes per hectare,” he said, contrasting it with the African average of about 20 metric tonnes and Rwanda’s five-fold post-genocide recovery.

‎

‎Mr Bugaje said the blueprint offered actionable solutions, specifically targeting energy costs, which drove up expenses across transportation and agriculture, as a critical baseline for national prosperity.

‎

‎While acknowledging that entrenched political interests might resist structural reforms, he maintained that the party was fully prepared to confront systemic corruption and deliver on its mandate.

‎

‎“We are not underestimating the difficulties that are going to be there,” he warned, assuring, however, that the party would fight, win and deliver.
