The Forum of Igala Journalists (FORIJA) has announced the passing of one of its esteemed members, Elder Danusa Ocholi.
In a press statement issued on September 22, 2026, signed by its Secretary General, Mr Akogu Yusuf, the Forum said it announces the death with deep sorrow and total submission to the will of God.
Elder Ocholi was a veteran journalist, a man of uncommon integrity, humility and professional excellence, the statement said.
“He was a committed member of our Forum who devoted his active years to the practice of journalism and to the service of the Igala nation and Nigeria at large,” FORIJA said.
The Forum noted that Ocholi carved a niche for himself in Newswatch and later Champion Sports.
“Until his demise, Ocholi was the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Daily Asset,” the statement added.
According to FORIJA, his death is a monumental loss not only to the Forum but to the entire media community in Kogi State and beyond.
“He was a father-figure, a mentor to many young journalists, and a custodian of ethical journalism whose words of wisdom and calm disposition will be greatly missed,” the Forum said.
FORIJA extends its heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, the Ocholi family, friends, associates, and all members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists.
“We pray that Almighty God grants his soul eternal rest and comforts his family with the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. Adieu, Elder Danusa Ocholi!”
