The Delta State police police command says it arrested four suspected cultists over alleged murder murder and recovered a locally-made gun in Ubulu-Uku area of the state.
In a statement on Thursday, the command’s spokesman, Bright Edafe, said the suspects were members of the Supreme Vikings and Eiye confraternities.
He stated that the suspects were arrested on Sunday in connection with a cult-related killing and handed over to operatives of Anti-cult unit (CACU), Asaba, for further investigation.
The suspects are Okwudili Ozah, 34; Chekwube Onwuka, 18; Onyebe Emmanuel, 19; and Ozoremenem Izuchukwu, 21.
“Recovered during the operation were one locally made single-barrel cut-to-size gun, one live cartridge and a quantity of substance suspected to be cannabis,” he said.
He noted that the victim was taken to a medical facility where he was confirmed dead, and his remains deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.
Mr Edafe added that investigation was ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing and the individual involvement of the suspects.
